Former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association, now the Nigerian Football Federation, and founder of Kano Pillars FC, Ibrahim Galadima, has passed away at the age of 78.

He reportedly died on Saturday after a prolonged illness.

The death was confirmed by the Media and Communication Directorate of Kano Pillars FC in an official statement.

Born on February 15, 1948, the late Galadima was described as one of the most respected football administrators and influential figures in Nigerian sports.

According to the club, he served as chairman of the NFA between 2002 and 2006, where he made significant contributions to the growth and international standing of Nigerian football.

He also served as Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, playing a major role in sports development at both grassroots and elite levels.

As a founding father of Kano Pillars FC, Galadima was credited with laying the foundation for the club’s emergence as one of Nigeria’s most successful football sides.

The statement added that his funeral prayer is scheduled for Sunday by 10:00 a.m. at Masallacin Waje in Fagge Local Government Area.

The club, through its General Manager Ahmed Musa and Chairman Ali Muhammad Umar, extended condolences to his family, the government and people of Kano State, as well as the wider Nigerian football community.

They also prayed for Almighty Allah to grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and comfort those he left behind.
