Wike-backed PDP faction holds first NEC meeting
The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Monday convened its first National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the party’s national headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
The development comes months after the PDP secretariat was sealed in November following a leadership tussle between the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) and the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led caretaker committee.
Both groups had laid claim to the party’s leadership, deepening internal divisions within the opposition party.
However, the crisis took a new turn in March when the Court of Appeal nullified the Ibadan convention that produced the Turaki-led leadership.

Today, Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, posted a two minutes 16 seconds long video on his X (Twitter) handle, showing Wike arriving the party’s national secretariat.
He was then joined by other party elders and state representatives.
Expected to be at the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led faction meeting are former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and former Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.
