ADC urges calm as Supreme Court reserves judgment in leadership dispute

The opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on its members, supporters, and stakeholders to remain calm and united as it continues to pursue legal avenues to resolve its internal leadership crisis.

In a statement shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the party reaffirmed its commitment to due process, internal democracy, and the rule of law amid ongoing judicial proceedings.

The ADC noted that the Supreme Court of Nigeria on Wednesday reserved judgment in the appeal concerning the party’s leadership tussle. The court, sitting with a five-member panel led by Mohammed Lawal Garba, announced that a date for the ruling would be communicated to all parties.

According to the party, the development followed the adoption of final briefs by legal representatives, effectively bringing arguments in the case to a close.

The ADC stressed that it remains confident in the judicial process and assured members that updates would be communicated as events unfold.

The leadership dispute, which has drawn significant attention ahead of the 2027 general elections, continues to test the party’s internal cohesion, even as it seeks to position itself within Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
