Insecurity will not force me out of office – Tinubu

Published

on

President Bola Tinubu has declared that he will seek a second term in office, insisting that ongoing security challenges across parts of the country will not compel him to leave power.

The President made the remarks while receiving Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and other stakeholders from the state at the Presidential Villa.

Tinubu said attempts to link his administration to worsening insecurity were politically motivated and aimed at undermining his government.

“You are playing to the hand of agents, including my own enemies, who want to use insecurity to get rid of me,” the President said.

He further described himself as a “determined” politician, reaffirming his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election.

“I’m a very stubborn politician. I just refuse to go. And I will campaign for my second term,” Tinubu added.

The President’s comments come amid renewed concerns over rising cases of banditry, kidnappings, and violent attacks in several parts of the country. Opposition figures and civil society organisations have continued to urge the Federal Government to intensify efforts to address the security situation.

Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023, is expected to complete his first term in 2027, when Nigerians will return to the polls for the next presidential election.
