Court will cancel NDC registration — Umar Ardo
Dr. Umar Ardo has said the registration of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) may soon be nullified, revealing that a legal challenge is already before the court over alleged irregularities in its recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking in a recent interview on a Hausa television platform, Ardo stated that the case questions the legality of the process through which the NDC was registered, expressing confidence that the court would overturn it.
“We are in court over NDC irregularities in registration by INEC. The court will cancel the NDC registration,” he said.
Ardo, who is the convener of the League of Northern Democrats and a key promoter of the All Democratic Alliance, did not disclose further details of the suit but maintained that due process must be followed in party registration.
The development comes amid growing political realignments and the emergence of new platforms ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the NDC seen in some quarters as part of the evolving opposition landscape.
As of press time, neither the NDC nor INEC has officially responded to the claim.
