Fubara’s kingsman Blessing joins Rivers 2027 Governorship race under NDC platform
Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s kinsman, Blessing Fubara, has formally entered the Rivers State governorship race after obtaining the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) expression of interest and nomination forms.
Reports indicate that Blessing Fubara picked up the form on Wednesday, just hours before Governor Fubara announced his withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary.
According to findings, both men hail from Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, though it remains unclear if they are directly related.
The Rivers State Chairman of the NDC, Success Jack, confirmed Blessing Fubara’s participation in the party’s governorship race.
“Yes, he obtained his expression of interest form from yesterday in Abuja, and we are prepared and still preparing to win not only the governorship election, but all the elections in Rivers State, come 2027 general election,” he was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, political sources suggest that some supporters of the governor are already defecting to the NDC ahead of the 2027 general elections, signalling early realignments in the state’s political landscape.
