Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour emerges Lagos ADC gubernatorial candidate after landslide primary victory
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after defeating his closest rival, Silas, in the party’s primary election.
Rhodes-Vivour secured a total of 12,948 votes to clinch the party’s ticket, while Silas polled 6,183 votes in the exercise described as peaceful and competitive by party observers.
In his acceptance remarks, Rhodes-Vivour expressed appreciation to party members and supporters for what he described as overwhelming confidence in his leadership and political vision.
He said the victory represents a collective mandate for a renewed push for accountable governance, adding that the journey toward political change in the state had only just begun.
“The work has only just begun. Together, we will continue to build a movement that represents hope, progress and accountable leadership for our people,” he said.
The primary attracted stakeholders and delegates from across the state, with the ADC leadership commending the conduct of the exercise and reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
