Confusion has followed the abduction of a chieftain of the Oodua Peoples Congress (Oodua Peoples Congress), Comrade Bayo Fabiyi, alongside two other persons in Oko-Irese, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Sources said Fabiyi was kidnapped with a driver and another associate while allegedly on their way to deliver ransom money and other items intended to secure the release of a previously abducted victim in the same community.

According to the report, the team was conveying about ₦30 million, five motorcycles, and three bags of rice when they were ambushed by armed men along a forest route linking Kwara and Kogi States.

It was gathered that the ransom mission was linked to efforts to secure the release of an earlier kidnapped victim, who was allegedly killed by the abductors before the delivery team arrived — a development reportedly unknown to those on the assignment.

The abductors were said to have intercepted the team and forced them into a forested area before taking them captive at gunpoint.

Sources further claimed that Fabiyi had received spiritual warnings advising him against embarking on the journey, but he reportedly proceeded despite the caution.

The incident was not immediately reported to security agencies, according to local sources.

When contacted, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, said the command had not yet received a formal report of the kidnapping involving the OPC chieftain but assured that an investigation would commence once official notification is made.

Security concerns remain high in the area as authorities continue to monitor developments.
