The US Supreme Court on Tuesday turned down President Donald Trump‘s attempt to limit birthright citizenship, preserving the constitutional right to American citizenship for most people born on US soil.
In a closely watched ruling delivered on the final day of its term, the court voted 6-3 against the proposal, ensuring that nearly everyone born in the United States remains entitled to automatic citizenship under existing constitutional protections.
