Six feared killed as bandits raid over 30 communities in Sokoto
At least six people are feared to have been killed after suspected bandits launched a series of attacks on communities in Danchadi District, Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The attacks reportedly forced residents to flee their homes, with no fewer than 30 villages affected by the invasion.
The violence also led to the displacement of many residents, while the attackers reportedly made away with more than 1,000 livestock.
Details of the incident were contained in a report signed by the District Head of Danchadi, Alhaji Lirwanu Mafaran Kuwarun Sarkin Musulmi, and addressed to the Chairman of Bodinga Local Government Area..
A senior monarch in the district, according to Very Nigerian confirmed the report, saying he personally delivered copies to some of the security agencies operating in the area.
He said the affected communities are Gidan Gadanga, Gidan Dan Bube, Dutsin Mai Gunya, Batsauje, Sire Modi, Gwantsi, Kore Maiganga, Bangi Rafi, Bangi Dutsin, Yabawa, Lageji, Bille, Gonin Gari, Wumumu, Chohi, Saran Malan, Wure Yal’dde, Gidan Hodi, Dabugi, Rukusawa, Tunga, Lakes, Maikataru, Dutsin Toka, Karaje, Kwantsi Buga, Yan Gidaje, Runbuki, Kwantsi Tunga and Lau Gari.
At the time of filing this report, efforts to reach the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, proved abortive as he neither picked nor returned telephone calls.
