Setback for Kano APC as hundreds dump party for NDC in Kano
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, several members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State have defected to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
The defectors, mostly youths, were officially received into the NDC on Sunday by the party’s Kano State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Yusuf Rabiu Fasaha, alongside the party’s State House of Assembly candidate for Kumbotso, Captain Nafe.
The defection is seen as a significant boost for the NDC in Kumbotso, with the new members pledging their loyalty and commitment to the party’s vision ahead of the 2027 polls.
Speaking at the event, Fasaha described the development as evidence of the NDC’s growing popularity among young people in the state. He assured the defectors of equal opportunities and full inclusion in the party’s activities.
Captain Nafe also welcomed the new members and urged them to intensify grassroots mobilisation, stressing that the NDC remains committed to youth empowerment and people-centred representation.
