JUST-IN: Police seal PDP National Secretariat after boiling moments

Operatives of the Nigeria Police on Wednesday sealed the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

The closure came a day after a violent clash broke out between two factions, leading to the firing of teargas to disperse opposing supporters.

The Saminu Turaki-led group had faced off with supporters loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at the party’s headquarters.

During the confrontation, Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State were reportedly affected by teargas.

Later on Tuesday, the factional National Executive Committee (NEC) loyal to Wike ratified the expulsion of Governors Makinde, Mohammed, and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State.

Also expelled were a former Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara; former National Vice Chairman, Chief Bode George; and the newly elected National Chairman, Turaki, SAN.

The decision followed the PDP national convention held last Saturday in Ibadan, Oyo State, where Wike and ten others, including former governors, serving lawmakers, and key party figures, were suspended for alleged anti-party activities.
