Flying Eagles arrive Ivory Coast for WAFU B U-20 title defence
Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, have arrived in Ivory Coast ahead of the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship, where they will begin the defence of their regional title.
The defending champions touched down in Abidjan on Monday before continuing their journey by road to the host city of Yamoussoukro.
The team is lodged at the Trio Corridor Hotel as preparations intensify for the tournament.
Nigeria will kick off its title defence with a high-profile clash against long-time rivals Ghana’s Black Satellites. The opening fixture is scheduled to take place at the Lycée Scientifique in Yamoussoukro on Monday.
The fixture is a repeat of the 2024 final in Lomé, where Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-1 to lift the regional title.
Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s side will then face Togo’s Sparrow Hawks on Thursday before rounding off their Group B fixtures against Burkina Faso’s Young Stallions on Sunday, August 2.
The Flying Eagles are aiming to successfully defend the WAFU B crown as they continue preparations for upcoming continental assignments
