How Trump was smuggled off Air Force One in Catering Truck amid Iran missile threat; Details emerge
US President Donald Trump was secretly moved from an older Air Force One aircraft to a smaller military jet through an airport catering truck after US authorities detected what they considered a serious and immediate Iranian threat to the plane he was expected to board.
The covert operation reportedly took place last month when Trump travelled to Ankara, Turkey, for a NATO summit.
According to reports by The Washington Post, Trump initially boarded the older Air Force One in view of television cameras before being secretly transferred minutes later to a C-32A military aircraft through a catering truck normally used to load meals and other supplies.
US officials said the threat from Iran included the possible use of shoulder-fired missiles against the aircraft Trump was expected to use.
The decision to switch planes was described by officials as a “snap decision.”
Only Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly accompanied Trump during the secret transfer, while reporters and some White House staff aboard the original aircraft were left unaware and unknowingly served as decoys.
Trump secretly flew the smaller aircraft to the United Kingdom before being transferred back to the older Air Force One. He later appeared publicly and boarded the Qatar-donated aircraft for his return to Washington.
