Alleged drug trafficking: Tinubu will be embarrassed at UNGA, won’t meet Trump – US Firrm

A United States-based policy advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu could face embarrassment at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September if he attends the meeting.

The firm made the claim in a post published on its verified X handle on Monday.

It also said Tinubu’s reported efforts to secure a private meeting with United States President Donald Trump during the UNGA would not succeed.

‘Trump Won’t Meet Alleged Heroin Trafficker’

According to the lobbying firm, members of the Trump administration have allegedly made it clear that the US President would not hold a private meeting with Tinubu because of allegations linking the Nigerian leader to heroin trafficking.

The firm, however, acknowledged that Tinubu, as Nigeria’s President, could travel to New York for the UNGA and participate in the event under the access and transit protections available to representatives of United Nations member states.

“We look forward to President Tinubu attending the UNGA next month. Unfortunately for President Tinubu, he is going to be embarrassed at the UN,” the firm said.

Firm Threatens Publicity Campaign

Von Batten-Montague-York further claimed that world leaders attending the UNGA would be aware of the allegations against Tinubu.

“From reports we have seen, from South Africa to Italy, world leaders attending the UNGA will be fully aware of the heroin-trafficking allegations against President Tinubu,” it stated.

The firm also claimed it had developed a plan to draw public attention to the allegations in New York during the UNGA.

“If we are authorised, we will put into operation our plan to ensure every New Yorker within a six-mile radius of UN Headquarters learns about President Tinubu’s alleged role in smuggling poison (heroin) onto American soil,” the firm said.

Tinubu has previously denied wrongdoing in relation to allegations concerning his past in the United States. The claims referenced by the firm have been the subject of ongoing legal and political disputes, including efforts to obtain records held by US law-enforcement agencies.
