EPL: Arsenal edge Chelsea 2-1 in London derby
Arsenal secured a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in an exciting Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Chelsea made a quick start to the game, taking the lead in the second minute through a volley from new signing Morgan Rogers.
Arsenal thought they had equalised in the 12th minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside following a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review.
The Gunners continued to push for an equaliser and were rewarded in the 25th minute when former Chelsea striker Kai Havertz found the net to make it 1-1.
Arsenal later completed the comeback to secure all three points against their London rivals.
The German received the pass from Declan Rice. He then pulled to the right and drove the ball inside before latching a low effort towards the near post.
Five minutes after the second half commenced, club captain Martin Odegaard scored the winner for last season’s defending champions.
With Havertz playing a dummy on the ball, Arsenal’s new signing, Christos Tzolis’s ball was met by Odegaard, who delivered a slamming effort to bag the winner.
Mikel Arteta’s side have amassed a maximum of nine points in their opening three matches. They currently sit second behind Manchester City, while sharing the same points.
The Blues occupy the fourth spot on the league table, with six points. They won their first game by 3-2 against Fulham before getting a 4-3 win at home against Brighton.
