ASUU, FG to ink agreement to transform higher education
The Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) are poised to formalize a new agreement targeting industrial harmony and improved learning conditions in Nigerian universities.
Scheduled for Wednesday in Abuja, the ceremony will be led by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad. The pact aligns with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which identifies education as a key driver of national development.
“The agreement reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to resolve industrial issues through dialogue, collaboration, and mutual understanding,” the Ministry of Education said in a statement. “It aims to enhance industrial peace, foster a conducive academic environment, and build public confidence in the education sector.”
The signing will bring together top government officials, ASUU leadership, university heads, development partners, and media representatives, marking a significant step toward stable and globally competitive higher education in Nigeria.
