The Nigeria Police Force, through its Intelligence Response Team (IRT), has invited a former Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Tammy Wenike Danagogo, for questioning over a leaked phone conversation allegedly linked to a plot to assassinate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

In an invitation letter dated January 9 and issued by the Force Intelligence Department, Abuja, Danagogo was asked to appear in person at the IRT facility in the Guzape area of the Federal Capital Territory as part of an ongoing investigation.

The letter directed him to report on Thursday, January 15, by 10 a.m., and to meet CSP Hillary Ugwuanyi and his team upon arrival. The police described the summons as a fact-finding exercise carried out in line with the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

Although the letter did not specifically mention Wike or provide details of the alleged offence, sources familiar with the matter said the invitation is connected to a viral audio recording purportedly discussing plans to harm the FCT minister.

Security sources disclosed that the investigation led to the arrest of a Port Harcourt–based medical doctor and pastor, Dr. Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, who is alleged to have been involved in the conversation. The suspects were said to have discussed plans to engage foreign operatives to carry out the attack, with references to sourcing funds for the operation.

The alleged plot was described by security officials as a serious national security concern, prompting swift action by the police. Dr. Gbeneol is currently in custody while investigations continue.

Meanwhile, Danagogo, a former close ally of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, is reportedly being sought by investigators to clarify his alleged role in the matter.

Confirming developments, the Nigeria Police Force said a suspect has been arrested in connection with the case and that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full details and identify other possible accomplices.
