BUK expels 60 students over alleged examination malpractice
Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has dismissed 60 students from various academic departments over their involvement in examination malpractice.
The decision was reached by the university’s Senate at its 43rd statutory meeting held on January 7, 2026, after reviewing reports and recommendations submitted by the relevant academic and disciplinary committees.
The university disclosed the development in an official statement shared on its Facebook page on Friday, confirming that the affected students were found guilty of different examination-related offences.
According to the statement, investigations revealed that the affected students were involved in various acts that contravened the institution’s examination policies.
“After reviewing the cases, the Senate approved the expulsion of the students in accordance with the university’s examination regulations,” the statement noted.
The university explained that the action was carried out in line with the provisions of its General Examinations and Academic Regulations (GEAR) and, where applicable, the General Regulations Governing Postgraduate Studies (GRGPS).
