Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has been remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre following her arraignment over alleged cyber-related offences.

Okorie was reportedly arrested in Lagos on Tuesday by operatives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department. She was subsequently taken into custody by the Nigeria Police Force’s National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja.

Confirming the development on Wednesday, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, told Very Nigerian that the actress had been charged to court.

Filmmaker Ajemba Stanley also confirmed her arraignment and remand, criticising the speed and handling of the process as an abuse of power.

“You arrested Angela Okorie at midnight yesterday, flew her to Abuja as early as 6 a.m., and this morning took her to court, where she was remanded in Suleja prison,” Stanley wrote on social media.

He vowed to travel to Abuja to seek her release, calling for adherence to due legal process.

Industry sources suggest the case may be connected to Okorie’s public feud with fellow actress Mercy Johnson.

The dispute, which escalated last year, followed Okorie’s controversial claims about Johnson’s health and accusations of hypocrisy that sparked widespread online backlash.

The police have yet to release an official statement detailing the specific charges against Okorie.
