A prominent Islamic scholar in Zaria, Sheikh Usman Idris, popularly known as Rigi-Rigi, has died at the age of 57.

Umar said Sheikh Usman, also referred to as Sheikh Usman Kusfa, passed away in the early hours of Monday at a private hospital in Kaduna after battling an illness for several months.

He described the late cleric as a widely respected Islamic teacher whose sermons and religious teachings resonated across northern Nigeria and beyond.

In recent years, Sheikh Kusfa gained renewed prominence through social media, particularly TikTok and other digital platforms, where his preaching attracted a large following among youths and the general public.

The deceased cleric is survived by four wives, 37 children and several grandchildren.
