Thousands of Nigerians took to the streets of Abuja on Monday as former presidential candidate Peter Obi spearheaded a renewed campaign demanding transparency in the country’s electoral process.

The protest, which drew large crowds of supporters, including well-known activist Aisha Yesufu, has intensified pressure on electoral authorities and heightened political tension in the capital.

Obi and his supporters converged at the entrance of the National Assembly, calling for the approval of real-time electronic transmission of election results from polling units, a key provision in the ongoing Electoral Amendment Bill.

Security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other paramilitary personnel, deployed vehicles and positioned officers at strategic locations to maintain order and ensure the protest remained peaceful.
