Protesters return to NASS, demand urgent passage of electoral bill
Protesters returned to the National Assembly Complex in Abuja on Tuesday for the second straight day, intensifying calls for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to transmit election results from polling units in real time to its IREV portal.
Demonstrators at the entrance of the complex were heard chanting, “We no go gree, we no go gree, Akpabio, pass the bill,” and “Our vote must count,” highlighting public demand for transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
The demonstrators also carried placards bearing strong messages, including “Don’t alter the bill, pass it,” and “Rigging election is a coup,” alongside other inscriptions.
The chants were directed at Senate President Godswill Akpabio, as demonstrators urged the leadership of the National Assembly to prioritise the bill.
