Tinubu renews Ayo Omotayo’s apointment as NIPSS DG

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renewal of the appointment of Professor Ayo Omotayo as Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed the development in a statement on Wednesday, confirming that the renewal is for a final term of four years.

Omotayo was initially appointed in November 2021 by Muhammadu Buhari, with the Senate confirming his appointment in February 2022.

A Professor of Environmental Sustainability, Omotayo studied at the University of Ibadan between 1980 and 1990, where he earned a PhD in Geography.

He began his academic career at Lagos State University in 1985 and rose rapidly through the ranks, becoming a Senior Lecturer in 1992 at the age of 30.

He later served as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences from 2012 to 2017 and was Director of the Centre for Planning at the university before his appointment as Director-General of NIPSS in 2021.
