Tinubu elevates Buhari’s ally Ibrahim Masari to SA on political affairs
Bola Ahmed Tinubu has elevated Ibrahim Kabir Masari from the position of Senior Special Assistant to Special Adviser on Political Affairs.
The development was announced on Thursday in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to Onanuga, Masari will now serve in his new role alongside Yau Darazo, who was earlier appointed by the president in July 2023.
“As a special adviser, Masari will work alongside Alhaji Yau Darazo, whom Tinubu appointed in July 2023,” the statement said.
Very Nigerian reports that Masari, a close ally of the President, was first appointed as Senior Special Assistant in 2023 for the same role.
The Katsina-born politician previously served as the All Progressives Congress welfare secretary during the tenure of Senator Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman.
The position of Special Adviser is more senior than Senior Special Assistant in the presidential hierarchy, with Special Advisers typically handling more strategic responsibilities and having direct access to the President.
Masari has been a key figure in Tinubu’s political circle and played significant roles in APC activities, particularly in the North-West region.
HIs appointment does not require Senate confirmation, as presidential aides serve at the pleasure of the President.
