PDP, LP missing as INEC publishes final Osun Guber candidate list
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the August 8, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) missing from the list.
In a statement issued on Friday, the commission’s Public Relations Officer in Osun, Musa Olurode, said candidates from 14 political parties were cleared to contest the election.
The parties listed include Accord Party, Action Alliance, African Action Congress, African Democratic Congress, Action Democratic Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance, All Progressives Congress, Allied Peoples Movement, Action Peoples Party, Boot Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, Peoples Redemption Party, Young Progressive Party, and Zenith Labour Party.
Olurode explained that the publication of the final list is in line with the timetable and schedule of activities earlier released by the electoral commission ahead of the governorship poll.
He added that only the 14 parties successfully conducted their primaries and uploaded the names and particulars of their candidates and running mates on the INEC portal within the stipulated deadline.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on August 8, 2026.
