Youths stage protest over persistent blackout in Lagos
Youths in parts of Lagos on Thursday staged a protest over the continued lack of electricity supply affecting several communities in the state.
The demonstrators, mainly young residents from the affected areas, took to the streets and marched along major roads while carrying placards and chanting slogans to draw attention to their grievances.
During the protest, the youths repeatedly chanted, “Give us light, we are not asking for too much,” as they expressed frustration over the prolonged blackout.
They also called on the Lagos State Government to urgently intervene and address the electricity situation in their communities.
The youths said the continued lack of electricity has severely disrupted their daily activities and negatively affected small businesses that depend on stable power supply.
They, therefore, urged the authorities to take immediate steps to restore stable electricity in their communities.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by the authorities regarding the protest.
Nigerians have been grappling with epileptic and unstable power over alleged drop in gas supply and other issues.
