BREAKING: Humanitarian Affairs Minister Yusuf Sununu resigns ahead of 2027
The Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Yusuf Tanko Sununu, has resigned from his position to pursue a political career in Kebbi State.
Sununu confirmed his resignation on Monday, stating that his decision was in line with existing regulations guiding political office holders seeking elective positions.
When contacted via text message to verify the development, the former minister responded in the affirmative, confirming that he had stepped down from office.
The former federal lawmaker, who represented Shanga, Yauri, and Ngaski Federal Constituency, is reportedly planning to contest for the Kebbi South Senatorial District seat in the 2027 elections.
Sununu previously served as Kebbi State Minister of Education before being redeployed to the Humanitarian Affairs Ministry. He is credited with impactful social projects in the state under both appointments, contributing positively to the lives of residents.
