15 Rescued, several feared trapped as Two-Storey Building collapses in Lagos midnight incident
Several people were feared trapped after a two-storey building collapsed in the early hours of Monday at No. 54, Cole Street, Cemetery Bus Stop, near UBA Bank in Oyingbo, Lagos.
According to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS), the agency received a distress call at about 12:20 a.m. and immediately deployed rescue teams from the Sari Iganmu Fire Station, who arrived at the scene by 12:29 a.m. to commence emergency operations.
Margaret Adeseye, the Controller General of LSFRS, confirmed that 15 individuals have been rescued from the rubble. She stated that those rescued included seven adult males, four adult females, and four children, all of whom sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Rescue efforts were still ongoing at the time of this report, as emergency officials worked tirelessly to locate more victims feared to be trapped under the debris.
