2027: Amaechi officially registers with ADC in Rivers
Former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress.
Amaechi completed his registration on Friday morning at Ward 8 in Ubima, located in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
The registration came just hours after the ADC ward office in the community was set ablaze by unknown persons.
Residents said they woke up to an early morning fire that destroyed part of the party office and created panic in the area.
Despite the incident, Amaechi arrived in the community and urged supporters who gathered to welcome him to remain peaceful and avoid violence.
“Don’t be violent because violence may lead to the death of somebody — don’t be violent. At the same time, they can’t stop us from meeting in our community,” he said.
Amaechi also commended the Rivers State Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services for their response, describing their actions as professional.
“We thank the commissioner of police and the director of DSS, they showed a lot of professionalism. In fact, I wasn’t expecting that from them; I thought they would be behind the criminals,” he added.
The former governor called on security agencies to investigate the incident and bring those responsible for burning the ADC office in Ubima to justice.
