Veteran Nigerian journalist and diplomat, Ambassador Dele Cole, has died at the age of 86.

Cole reportedly passed away on Saturday morning, October 17, 2026, according to family sources.

He was a respected figure in Nigeria’s media industry, having served as the Managing Director of Daily Times, one of the country’s prominent newspaper organisations.

Following his career in journalism, Cole was appointed Nigeria’s ambassador to Argentina and Brazil, where he represented the country in diplomatic affairs.

His death marks the loss of a prominent media professional who also contributed to Nigeria’s diplomatic service.
