84-Day Strike suspended as JOHESU, FG reach agreement
The decision was made at the end of an expanded National Executive Council (NEC) emergency meeting held in Abuja on Friday.
The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) has suspended its nationwide strike, 84 days after it began, the union announced on Friday.
The decision followed an expanded National Executive Council (NEC) emergency meeting held in Abuja to review the outcomes of the federal government-JOHESU conciliation meeting convened on Thursday at the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
In a communique issued after the NEC meeting, JOHESU stated that the suspension of the strike is to “allow for the implementation of the FG-JOHESU Terms of Settlements.”
The industrial action, which disrupted services across public health facilities nationwide, had been driven by disputes over salary structures, allowances, and other welfare concerns of health workers.
