Syndicate using Regina Daniel’s situation to tarnish my image – Ned Nwoko

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has claimed that a coordinated group is exploiting his wife, actress Regina Daniels, to discredit him.

He described the situation as a deliberate effort by a “syndicate to pull down Ned,” following ongoing reports of marital tension between the couple.

In a statement issued by his Communication and Technical Action Team and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday, Nwoko accused certain individuals, including Omoyele Sowore and Jebose, of manipulating the situation to damage his reputation internationally. He alleged that these individuals have long targeted him and are now taking advantage of the situation to criminalise him.

“Beyond this, the talk about me grabbing lands in my hometown is false and unfortunate. I was allocated land after making a genuine payment offer to establish the University of Sports, a project that now serves the community,” Nwoko said.

He lamented that progressive individuals in society are often attacked by their own people, calling it a sad reality that differentiates some ethnic groups.

He further alleged that some persons were exploiting Regina Daniels’ health condition and past drug use to attack him, insisting that the facts are verifiable and that those making defamatory claims would face the law.

“If by now she has not brought up any credible allegation against me, it means there is nothing illegal about me except that I want her to seek rehabilitation,” he added.

According to Nwoko, Regina Daniels’ medical history supports his claims about her substance use, which he said began long before their marriage.

He maintained that her former schoolmates had confirmed she dropped out due to drug-related issues and that she had publicly admitted to being on bipolar medication.

He accused his critics of manipulating her situation to settle personal and political scores.

“For clarity, Regina Daniels was born on October 10, 2000.”

“If she has been married for six years, that means she got married at 19, not 17,” Nwoko said, adding that her family willingly gave her out in marriage. He emphasized that their marriage followed traditional norms and that polygamy was not against their customs.

“My marriage to Regina was honourable. I gave her a name, treated her with dignity, and made her the centre of my world,” he said. “It is disheartening to see lies being spread online. Regina has become a weak point through which my political and personal enemies are attacking me.”

Nwoko concluded that the controversy is part of a long-standing campaign to undermine his achievements and image as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
