ADC gains momentum in Edo as defectors flood party in Okpebholo’s district

The African Democratic Congress has intensified its political activities in Edo State, recording a wave of defections from the All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, and Labour Party across Esan Central Senatorial District, the home zone of Governor Monday Okpebholo.

At a political gathering in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area, the party’s state chairman Tony Alile, alongside political figure Kenneth Imansuagbon, received scores of defectors who pledged loyalty to the ADC, a move party leaders described as a significant boost to its grassroots structure.

The ADC leadership said the development reflects growing dissatisfaction among citizens rather than inducement, adding that issues such as insecurity, unemployment and economic hardship are driving political realignments in the district.

The event also featured the unveiling of new aspirants, including House of Assembly hopeful Barnabas Odion, who declared his intention to contest the Esan South East State Constituency seat under the ADC platform, promising better representation and development if elected.

Party leaders say the latest defections further consolidate ADC’s presence in Esan Central Senatorial District as it seeks to expand its influence ahead of future elections in Edo State.
