President Bola Tinubu has endorsed Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of next year’s general elections in Lagos State.
Tinubu gave his backing on Wednesday while receiving members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC) during a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The endorsement comes days after the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, publicly identified Hamzat as his preferred successor.

Sanwo-Olu announced the endorsement after a closed-door meeting at Lagos House, Marina, where Hamzat officially declared his intention to run for the governorship seat before members of the State Executive Council and key party leaders.
