APC chieftain Osifo buys N100m presidential nomination form, set to challenge Tininu
A former presidential aspirant from Edo State, Stanley Osifo, has purchased the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential nomination and expression of interest forms worth N100 million ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The payment and submission process was confirmed in a video shared on Tuesday by Imran Muhammad, media aide to the APC National Chairman, showing Osifo’s formal collection of the nomination documents.
Osifo, who had earlier declared his intention to contest for the APC presidential ticket, said his ambition is driven by personal conviction rather than political sponsorship or endorsement from any power bloc within the party.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, he dismissed speculation linking his ambition to President Bola Tinubu, insisting he has never received any financial or political backing from the president.
“It is not strange to hear people say Tinubu is the one sponsoring me… I have never benefited one Kobo from him,” he said.
He added that his decision to join the race is based on his belief in his capacity to contribute to national leadership, stressing that internal endorsements within the party should not override constitutional provisions for competitive primaries.
Party timeline and election schedule
The APC has fixed its presidential primary for May 15–16, 2026, with nomination forms pegged at N100 million — N30 million for expression of interest and N70 million for nomination.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has also released the timetable for the 2027 general elections:
Party primaries: April 23 – May 30, 2026
Presidential/National Assembly elections: January 16, 2027
Governorship/State Assembly elections: February 6, 2027
Campaigns begin: August 19, 2026 (Presidential/NASS), September 9, 2026 (Governorship/State Assembly)
Osifo’s entry adds to the growing list of APC aspirants as early political positioning intensifies ahead of the 2027 contest.
