Kwankwaso loyalists begin mass exodus from ADC to NDC

Members of the Kwankwasiyya movement, loyal to former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, have begun a gradual exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Naija News reports that the development followed Kwankwaso’s defection from the ADC to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Sunday, alongside former Anambra State governor and ex-presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Speaking with The Punch, a spokesperson for the movement, Mansur Kurugu, said a final decision had not been taken on whether members who secured positions on the ADC platform would also move to the NDC.

He, however, confirmed that some key figures in Kano, especially loyalists of Kwankwaso, had already left the party.

According to him, he and the immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Gwarzo, had dumped the ADC for the NDC.

Kurugu said the ADC constitution provides that those who secured positions in the party are expected to assume duties on May 12, 2026.

He said, “In the constitution of the ADC, those who secured positions are expected to commence duties on May 12, 2026. So, for now, we don’t have any issues.

“Almost all members of the House of Representatives loyal to the Kwankwasiyya movement have already left the ADC for the NDC,” he added.
