BREAKING: ‘No comments’ says Gov Fubara after APC screening, Gov looks angry

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Sunday reportedly failed to scale through the screening exercise conducted by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s governorship primaries.

While several serving governors were successfully screened on Saturday, Fubara was noticeably absent from the initial exercise.

The governor eventually arrived at the Plateau Governors Lodge in Abuja around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday but reportedly left the screening venue angrily barely five minutes later.

Witnesses said Fubara walked out of the screening room and headed straight to his vehicle parked outside the venue.

When approached by journalists shortly after the incident, the visibly upset governor declined to speak on the outcome of the exercise, simply saying, “No comment.”

Sources at the venue, however, indicated that the screening process did not go smoothly for the Rivers governor, although no official reason was immediately disclosed.

Speaking after the exercise, APC National Secretary and Secretary of the Screening Committee, Ajibola Basiru, said all aspirants were expected to personally appear before the committee as part of the process.

“It appears that everybody must appear before the screening committee. Of course, it is necessary as part of the process. After the exercise, the screening committee will issue its report,” Basiru stated.

He added that the committee would compile and release its findings after concluding the screening of all aspirants.
