Just-In: Tinubu meets new Service Chiefs (Photo)
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on Monday met with the newly appointed Service Chiefs, the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General O.O. Oluyede, and the Chief of Defence Intelligence at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.
The meeting marks the first major engagement between the president and the new military leadership since the recent overhaul of Nigeria’s security command structure.
Very Nigerian reports that President Tinubu had sacked all former service chiefs last week, a move seen as part of efforts to reposition the nation’s security architecture and strengthen the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other threats across the country.
In the new arrangement, General Olufemi Oluyede was redeployed from Chief of Army Staff to Chief of Defence Staff, while Major-General W. Shaibu was appointed Chief of Army Staff.
Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke and Rear Admiral I. Abbas were named Chiefs of Air Staff and Naval Staff, respectively.
