2027: Tinubu sweeps APC presidential primary as Osifo scores zero votes in some states
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for the 2027 general election after recording overwhelming victories in the party’s nationwide direct primary exercise.
Results announced from several states showed Tinubu defeating fellow aspirant Stanley Osifo by wide margins, polling massive votes across key states including Rivers, Gombe, Ebonyi, Osun, Kwara, Zamfara, Bayelsa, and Edo.
In many of the states, Osifo reportedly secured either no votes or only a handful of votes as APC members turned out to participate in the exercise.
The outcome further consolidates Tinubu’s position as the ruling party’s standard-bearer ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The president is expected to officially receive the APC Certificate of Return and the party’s flag at a ceremony scheduled for Sunday at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
The event is expected to attract APC governors, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), National Executive Committee (NEC), federal lawmakers, and other senior party stakeholders.
Tinubu’s emergence comes amid increasing political realignments, opposition coalition efforts, and intensified preparations by political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the APC moving to consolidate support for the president’s re-election campaign.
