Tinubu’s daughter threatens protest over Lagos APC primary elections

The Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, has threatened a protest over the outcome of the recently concluded primaries of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, alleging that the exercise was manipulated in favour of the party’s Justice Forum bloc.

Speaking during a meeting with market leaders and stakeholders at her office in Alausa, Ikeja, Tinubu-Ojo accused party leaders of altering results in some constituencies despite what she described as clear victories by certain candidates.

The Lagos APC had earlier released the list of successful candidates for House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly seats ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Tinubu-Ojo specifically challenged the reported outcomes in Mushin Federal Constituency 2, Agege Constituency 2 and Ojokoro constituency.

According to her, candidates such as Seye Oladejo, Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo and Olotu Ojo legitimately won the primaries and should not be denied their mandates.

“We are ready to protest because we know they won this election. Their mandate should not be given to somebody else,” she stated.

She also criticised the growing factional rivalry between the Justice Forum and Mandate Group within the Lagos APC, warning that the divisions could weaken party unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

Tinubu-Ojo alleged that politicians were defecting internally to the Justice Forum because of the perceived governorship ambition of Obafemi Hamzat, whom she described as being associated with the bloc.

“We have to cry out now. Let APC cancel Justice and Mandate Forums. We are one family,” she said.

The APC stalwart argued that political appointments and opportunities in Lagos should not be controlled by factional interests, insisting that all members deserved equal treatment regardless of alignment.

She further warned that unresolved grievances from the primaries could destabilise the party if not urgently addressed by both state and national leadership.

Tinubu-Ojo also reaffirmed the support of market women and traders for Hamzat’s political ambition while calling for greater inclusion of traders in governance and political decision-making in Lagos State.
