BREAKING: Liverpool appoint Andoni Iraola as new Head Coach
Liverpool have confirmed the appointment of Spanish coach Andoni Iraola as their new head coach, replacing Arne Slot, who was sacked on Thursday.
Slot, from the Netherlands, was dismissed on Saturday after a disappointing defence of the Premier League title. This came despite his strong first season, where he led Liverpool to their 20th English league crown.
The club did not disclose the length of Iraola’s contract. However, British media reports suggest the Spanish coach has signed a two-year deal with the Premier League side.
“Really excited, really excited, because obviously you know about Liverpool, you know that it’s a big club, a massive club, one of the biggest in the world,” the 43-year-old former Bournemouth manager Iraola said on Liverpool’s official website.
“But feeling inside and understanding a little bit more of this club, I always thought it’s a special club.
“You don’t need a lot of things to get attracted by Liverpool. Liverpool is Liverpool.”
