Bayelsa NDC chieftain defects to APC, says party heading nowhere

A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Fyneman Wilson, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing his former party as a “one-man show” with no clear political future.

Wilson formally announced his resignation from the NDC on Monday alongside a large number of supporters from across Bayelsa State during a reception held at the Golden Tulip, Government House, Onopa.

Explaining his decision, the former NDC stalwart accused the party of lacking internal democracy and collective leadership, alleging that it had become a sole proprietorship controlled by a single individual.

According to him, the structure and direction of the party convinced him that it was “heading nowhere.”

The defection ceremony attracted prominent APC leaders in Bayelsa State, including the Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe; former Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi; the APC State Secretary, Barr. Odoji Japan; and other senior party stakeholders.

Also present was Hon. Living Mitin, the member representing Ekeremor Constituency II in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, who joined other APC leaders in officially welcoming Wilson and his supporters into the ruling party.

Wilson’s defection is seen as a significant boost for the APC in Bayelsa State as political realignments continue ahead of future elections, with parties intensifying efforts to strengthen their structures and attract influential political figures.
