INEC has granted us access codes to upload our candidates — ADC, LP confirm
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Labour Party (LP) have confirmed receiving access codes from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to begin uploading the names of their candidates for the 2027 general election.
ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed that the party received the access codes on Monday and has commenced preparations for the submission process.
“We have received the access codes for the various offices from INEC. In fact, we received the INEC codes from them since Monday,” Abdullahi said.
Labour Party National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, also confirmed the development, stating that the party’s National Chairman, Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, had taken delivery of the access codes.
“I was just told that the national chairman, Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, has received the INEC codes,” Asogwa said.
The confirmation comes as political parties intensify preparations to meet INEC’s deadline for the submission of candidates for the 2027 elections.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has also received its access codes from INEC. However, the party is yet to fully commence the distribution of the codes to its candidates amid lingering disputes arising from its recently concluded primaries.
Investigations revealed that several aggrieved APC aspirants across different states have filed petitions before the party’s appeal committees at the national secretariat, while party leaders and stakeholders are working to resolve internal disagreements and prevent further divisions.
Court Orders INEC to Release ADA Registration Access Codes
In a related development, the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered INEC to generate and release registration access codes to the Akin Rickett-led leadership of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).
Justice Peter Lifu, in a judgment delivered on Monday, directed the electoral commission to issue the access codes to the association’s recognised protem secretary within 72 hours.
The court ruled that INEC acted unlawfully by previously releasing the access codes to Umar Ardo, whom it held was not the duly recognised protem secretary of the association.
Justice Lifu declared INEC’s earlier action “illegal, wrongful, null and void” and further ordered the commission to reopen its registration portal for one week to enable the Rickett-led leadership upload the party’s membership register and other statutory documents required for registration.
Gombe APC Candidates Receive INEC Nomination Forms
In Gombe State, APC governorship and National Assembly candidates have officially received their INEC nomination forms following the conclusion of the party’s primary elections.
Governor Muhammadu Yahaya presented the forms during a ceremony at the Government House in Gombe, describing the exercise as the final stage of the party’s internal nomination process before submission to INEC.
Among those who received the forms was the APC governorship candidate, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, alongside the party’s senatorial candidates — Governor Muhammadu Yahaya (Gombe North), DCP Ahmed Mohammed Deba (Rtd.) (Gombe Central) and Hon. Jerry Damara (Gombe South).
The party also presented nomination forms to its six House of Representatives candidates, including Hon. Usman Bello Kumo (Akko), Hon. Ali Isa JC (Balanga/Billiri), Hon. Fatima Binta Bello (Kaltungo/Shongom), Hon. Inuwa Garba (Yamaltu/Deba), Hon. Sadam Bello (Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye) and Hon. Jamilu Shabewa (Dukku/Nafada).
