Pandemonium as fire razes Lagos fuel terminal

A fire has broken out at the Bono Energy Terminal in the Coconut area of Olodi Apapa, Lagos State, prompting an emergency response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

The incident was confirmed on Friday by the spokesperson for the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Shakiru Amodu.

In a brief statement sent to journalists, Amodu said firefighters were working to contain the blaze at the facility.

“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently curbing a fire explosion at Bono Energy Terminal on Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway, by Coconut, Olodi Apapa, Lagos. Update to follow,” he said.

Further details on the cause of the fire, possible casualties, or the extent of the damage were not immediately available as emergency responders continued efforts to bring the situation under control.

The cause of the fire could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
