BREAKING: Senegal’s President Faye elected new ECOWAS Chairman

Senegal’s President, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), taking over from Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio.
The decision was reached during a high-level meeting of leaders from member states of the regional bloc.
In a related development, Biram Diop has been appointed as the new President of the ECOWAS Commission, succeeding Dr Omar Touray.
The summit, attended by leaders from across the region, is expected to focus on strengthening regional integration, enhancing cooperation and promoting solidarity among the peoples of West Africa
