Lawyer Kalu Kalu petitions EU Commission over alleged Tinubu certificate forgery
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and lawyer, Kalu Kalu, has submitted a petition to the European Union Commission in Brussels against President Bola Tinubu over allegations of certificate forgery and subversion of Nigeria’s constitutional order.
Kalu submitted the petition on Friday, alleging that Tinubu violated constitutional requirements by submitting what he described as forged academic credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general election.
The ADC chieftain also alleged that the President failed to disclose details of his primary and secondary school education, which he claimed amounted to a violation of Section 137 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
Speaking after submitting the petition, Kalu accused the President of undermining Nigeria’s constitutional order and alleged that the documents submitted to INEC contained false information.
He said the alleged submission of false certificates should disqualify Tinubu from contesting the 2027 presidential election.
Kalu said the petition was intended to draw the attention of the European Union to what he described as the alleged erosion of constitutional rule in Nigeria.
He further alleged that the President had consolidated political power in a manner that enabled him to undermine constitutional provisions.
The allegations contained in the petition are claims by Kalu and have not been established by a court in the material provided.
