Osun Election: Suspected Policemen allegedly disrupt voting, seize materials in Modakeke
Voting was reportedly disrupted at Modakeke Ward 10 in Osun State on Saturday after individuals suspected to be policemen allegedly seized election materials and dispersed voters and officials.
An eyewitness said the polling area had remained peaceful before the incident occurred.
The witness alleged that the suspected policemen took away the election materials and later released what was believed to be tear gas before leaving the area.
“All the election agents and corps members took to their heels as soon as they arrived,” the witness said.
The development reportedly caused panic at the polling area, with election officials and party agents fleeing for safety.
The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the identity of those who allegedly took away the materials, could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
There was also no immediate official statement from the police or the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the reported incident.
