Obasanjo holds talks with AU chairperson on Africa’s challenges
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday met with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Youssouf, to discuss developments across the continent and issues affecting Africa.
The meeting centred on peace, dialogue and stability in Africa.
The African Union said Youssouf commended Obasanjo for his continued engagement in continental affairs and his efforts to promote peace and stability across Africa.
The statement said, “The Chairperson commended President Obasanjo’s continued engagement in support of peace, dialogue and stability across the continent.”
Obasanjo, who is an AU High Representative, was first appointed to the role in August 2021 and later reappointed to continue his peace and mediation efforts.
The two leaders also “exchanged views on key regional developments and other issues of continental interest.”
