JUST IN: Port Harcourt residents take to streets over alleged ‘one-chance’ attacks
Some residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, have braved the rain to stage a peaceful protest over alleged “one-chance” attacks in the city.
The protesters include victims who reportedly survived attacks allegedly carried out by criminals operating in commercial vehicles.
Other residents have joined the demonstration in solidarity with the victims and to call for urgent action to curb the attacks and prevent further incidents.
With placards expressing their displeasure over what they describe as a worrying new trend of criminal activities in the state capital, the protesters are calling on the authorities to strengthen security on the roads and protect commuters.
The protesters are marching from Boro Camp Junction to the Rivers State Government House and the Rivers State Police Command Headquarters, where they intend to press their demands for safer roads, better security and an end to ‘one-chance’ operations in the city.
